Today Godiva’s blog entry is not about the Swedish pop due who had a hit in the late 80’s. No, I wanna talk about fashion, SUSTAINABLE fashion. Scientists at KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology, in Stockholm, had been researching more efficient ways of producing bioethanol by finding a new way to decompose cellulose.
''There is a way to put fashion first without putting the environment second.''
As work progressed they realised that their method could be successful in decomposing the cellulose in cotton and viscose. They were convinced that this could be the key to recycling textiles on a massive scale and make fashion sustainable. Following growing demand for re:newcell pulp from the fashion industry, the first re:newcell plant opened in Kristinehamn, Sweden in 2017.
FASHION BECOMES SUSTAINABLE
There you have it straight from the horses mouth — sustainable fashion is actually possible people! It is up to you and me to invest in all these new innovations and to do our part for making a lasting positive change.
